Art Show Information

There are currently 5.5 General-Audiences panels and 1.5 Adult panels available for reservation.

Times and Format:

The Art Show will be held in a silent-auction format. There will be no live auction unless there is a great demand for one.

Please see the full schedule and events listings for the Art Show schedule.

Guests wishing to bid on art in the Art Show can obtain a bidder number at the Art Show desk, and will receive a set of stickers to mark their place on the bidding sheets. Bids may be placed during open hours. At 8:00pm on Saturday, the Art Show closes and no more bids can be placed. The Adult section will close ten minutes early in order to free up our staff for the General Audiences section.

Art pickup and sales will occur on Sunday afternoon starting at 1pm, and will continue until 5:00pm. We will accept personal checks, money orders, cash, credit and debit cards. Our commission rate is 8% (meaning artists will receive 92% of all net proceeds). All sales are also subject to an 8.6% Washington State sales tax.

Artists who have sold art in the show will receive a check in the mail within two months after the end of the convention. Artists who have unsold/unclaimed art can retrieve their art during the pickup/sales period.

Art Rules:

The General-Audiences section is for art with a rating of PG-13 and under. Sexually suggestive art is okay in these sections so long as it is relatively tame (subject to the opinion of our art-show staff). Exposed naughty bits as part of artistic nudity must be covered or censored in this section - however, explicit sexual situations and poses will not be allowed in this section at all, and must be placed in the Adult section. This policy also applies to three-dimensional art - sculptures, fursuit add-ons, and other objects that are of a sexual nature must either be appropriately censored or placed in the Adult section.

You must be 18 years of age or older in order to reserve an Adult art panel. Likewise, you must be 18 or older in order to view artwork in the Adult section - minors (17 and under) will be given a special mark on their badge identifying them as such, and will not be allowed into the Adult section.

Any art depicting a copyrighted or trademarked character or a character that is the property of another person ("fan art") will not be allowed in the Art Show without written proof of permission from the copyright holder or owner of the character(s) in the question. Characters that are public-domain and/or where the owner has publicly given permission to draw them in "fan art" are allowed without special requirements.

Any art that is or could be construed to be of a threatening or harassing nature to another person, especially another guest of the convention, will not be allowed in the Art Show. You may not use your art to harass another artist, convention guest or staff member, another member of the furry fandom, or any real person. You can make political statements with your art, though you will not be allowed to display art depicting violence or a threat of violence against a political figure (for example, we will reject an art piece showing a character holding a gun to the President's head).

All Fur Fun Staff reserve the right to remove or reject any art piece from the Art Show at our sole discretion for non-compliance with the above policies. We also reserve the right to move artwork to the Adult section at our sole discretion.

Bidding Policies:

Each con attendee (including staff, dealers and artists) can obtain a bidder number and place bids on art in the show, unless it is specifically marked Not For Sale (NFS). Art placed in the show cannot be sold directly to a person until after the show, and only if the piece has not received any bids. (At that point, the art is returned to the artist, and any post-auction sales are considered private.) Bids placed on the art are considered legally binding and must be honored, with the piece being sold to the highest bidder at the price specified.

All Fur Fun maintains a strict policy against shill bidding. Shill bidding is defined as bidding that artificially inflates the price or desirability of an item, or bidding by individuals with a level of access to the seller's item that the general community does not have. This generally applies to situations in which a member of the seller's family, a roommate or significant other, an employee, etc. places a bid on a piece that they could otherwise have bought privately before the auction. While not always the case, such bids are usually made with the intent to artificially raise the price of the piece in question. This practice is prohibited at All Fur Fun, and close relations of artists displaying art in the Art Show are strongly discouraged from bidding on such art. If the staff finds any shill bids in the auction, we reserve the right to nullify those bids and disqualify the bidder in question.

Portions of this policy are based on eBay's policy on shill bidding. For more information, please click here.

Reservations:

Art panels may be reserved for $10 dollars. Half panels are no longer available. Art panels are issued on a first-come-first-serve basis. Because resources are limited, we can only allow a maximum of 4 panels TOTAL, your account must be paid in full within two weeks of making your reservation. If, by this time, you still have an outstanding balance, we will make an attempt to contact you to resolve the balance. Failing that, we reserve the right to cancel your reservations and allow others to reserve those panels. If you need to make special payment arrangements, please contact us and we'll be happy to work with you.

If you want to show art in the Art Show but are not planning to attend the convention, you can mail your art to us. In this case, please register for the convention as "Non-Attending Support" ($20) send payment via PayPal or snail-mail, and contact us for instructions on shipping your art to us. You will be responsible for postage both to and from the convention. The $20 registration fee includes 1 art panel in either the General or Adult section, and serves as an Agent Fee, which enables All Fur Fun to act as your agent for the Art Show.

Also note that you do not need to reserve a table in the dealers' den in order to reserve an art show panel, and vice versa. (But you certainly can reserve both art show panels and a dealer's table at the same time if you want.)

Please see our Dealers' Info page for more information on how we handle taxes and proceeds. If you need to make special arrangements (such as reserving space on an art table for three-dimensional art), please feel free to contact us. We'll be happy to accommodate you to the best of our ability.

This policy is subject to change with or without notice.
